Croptoberfest 2008, Our 4th Year - Welcome Home

WELCOME HOME CROPPERS!

Cindy & Debbie
Thank you everyone for making this years' event so much fun. Although we had a smaller crowd this year, it was one of the best yet - and a little more room to spread out! According to the Associated Press' Survey Results, the verdict is in - the food this year was BY FAR the best ever! A special thanks to Joshua for making the menu so awesome and to Andrew, Lori, Eric , Sara and Jaimie for making sure that everything we could anticipate was ready and waiting.

Alex & Emily
For those who want a little recap, we started out our weekend on Thursday, October 23rd at 4pm. With a little help from our newest croppers, Alex (Cindy's daughter) and friend Emily were helping check people in (and even getting their things up to their cabins!) Thanks ladies! You were great!! After getting our cabin assignments, t-shirts, wristbands and assigned cropping stations, off we went to do what we do best - CROP! Of course, the late night snack of the chocolate chip/coconut cookies with milk was well appreciated to help rejuvenate our minds!

Donna, Stacie & Maria - - Cyndi
On Friday we started out with a Continental Breakfast, American Lunch, Soup & Salad dinner and another terrific dessert - brownies. It was lite yet nobody ever went hungry. Those who couldn't get up to Crop on Thursday arrived on Friday evening. We were now complete!

Kim & Elise - - DeeDee & Denise

Saturday meals started with the Hot/Cold Cereal Station & Coffee in the morning, then Brunch with 3 different egg dishes, seasoned potato squares, Chinese broccoli, and fruit. Then "Deluxe Snack" with cheese, crackers, dips, and rolls. Dinner was a wonderful breaded chicken with rice, fresh veggies, salad, and rolls. Best of all was the banana spiced cake with peanut butter frosting.

Debbie, Cindy & Laura tried something new this year and opened up the front podium area with sale tables. Everything from Creative Memories, Close To My Heart and Crop Street Cafe to Making Memories, 7Gypsies and Xyron. Page protectors, stickers, paper, embellishments, albums and tape runners were just to name of few from the 100's of selections available. After receiving feedback from a lot of you, having the "store" was an awesome idea and one that we'll bring back next year as well.

In addition to the store, Laura Larsen & Kris Fernandes opened up the raffles again to help benefit the American Cancer Society. After selling almost $1000 in tickets for the raffle prize tables, you can definitely imagine the work they put into this event. Even more, their silent auction on Saturday night was also well received and in all, they will be presenting almost $2000 to the American Cancer Society on behalf of our Camp Hammer Croptoberfest. For all those who helped make this possible, a HUGE thank you from all of us!

Please feel free to send in pictures that you took while at Croptoberfest this year. We will certainly post them up here for everyone to see. Be sure to put names with the photos so we don't goof up on anything. In fact, if you see any goof-ups, just send Debbie a message. You can send pictures and "goof-up" messages to Debbie at deardebbie@sbcglobal.net.

Thank you everyone for making Croptoberfest 2008 a great event. We hope you enjoyed your time this year just as much as we have. In fact, be sure to put October 22, 23, 24 & 25th of 2009 on your calendars for next year. We have a big event already in the planning stages to help celebrate our 5th Annual Croptoberfest Event! We're hoping for more sponsors, more sales, more prizes, different types of raffles and games and hopefully we're going to have a Grand Prize Auction that will knock your socks off! We have asked Scrapbook Impressions to come back again and we are finding teachers to help with a few Scrapbooking classes for next year. Like we said, we're already in the planning stages so get ready to really celebrate next year!
Be well and keep us updated with new emails and phone numbers for next years' spectacular event!
